Why I Don’t Let My Son Play Fortnite
The latest craze to sweep my son’s 3rd grade classroom is the battle royale shooter-survival game, Fortnite. However, I won’t allow my son to play—he simply isn’t good enough (yet).
While it might sound crazy, I believe this is a formative time in his social development. The actions he takes now will cement his place in the hierarchy that will more or less remain the same throughout college. Which is why I play Fortnite on his behalf, ensuring his position in the top 3 of his class. One day, he’ll be ready to take over his own account. Until that day comes, I’ll continue dabbing on his classmates.
Do you let your little ones play video games? Have you ever held a real gun?
